Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)

Directed by Zach Lipovsky & Adam B Stein

Did you know that you can reboot a franchise by adding “Bloodlines” to the title?  Well that seems to be the new trend, which is odd to me.  Final Destination has rebooted, because they just haven’t stopped thinking about weird ways to kill jabronis have they?

The movie starts off like every other Final Destination, with a long set up for a big group disaster.  This time it is a party in a tower with a glass floor.  The floor gives out, obviously who didn’t see that coming?  Then the tower topples, we get lots of fire, gore, falling and gruesomeness.  A woman and a young boy survive.  Now we are years later and death starts catching up to her woman and her family.  Death goes through her…..BLOODLINE! See there was a point to that title!!  We get some crazy over the top deaths and yeah its Final Destination 87, cmon.  The group has to figure out how to break the chain….and live? Question mark?

The acting is passable, nothing great, nothing shitty.  The main girl has a boo boo face most of the movie and its kind of annoying.  Her estranged mother shows up, kinda Laurie Strode in Halloween 2018 vibes, throwing a wrench in the mood.  The main girl, whose name escapes me, sees the link in the bloodline path it is following.  They seek out a mysterious “JB” from the grandma’s stuff.  It’s Tony Todd’s character, you know from basically all the other movies.  He was the little boy in the tower that lived, so there’s that.  He tells them about some ways to escape death or cheat it.  They try the ways, and fail, as you do.

Wow the gore in this is kind of nuts in this one, unfortunately all the blood and gore is CGI, so that’s a little lame.  We get a lot of smashings and head crushings which is always fun.  The scene where the guy gets pulled into the MRI machine is crazy.  I wont give away all the kills because that’s why you watch these movies lol.

All in all it was a decent watch.  The build up at the beginning was really long but the scene was great and the highlight of the movie.  Some of the dialogue is meh and the characters are forgettable.  The kills are pretty good and made me say “whoa” like Joey Lawrence in the 90s.  It is worth a watch, but remember it is like the 70th film in the franchise.  I give it a solid C.
