Together (2025)

I really didn’t plan on having so many 2025 movies, but here we are. I kept hearing good things about Together, and I enjoy Dave Franco and Allsion Brie. I’m still irritated that Netflix cancelled GLOW, how dare you?! Anyway this popped up on streaming so I played it.
Together focuses around Dave Franco and Allison Brie, a young couple that moves to the country so she can take a new teaching job. Dave Franco’s character is a musician, whom of course is struggling. She has supported him for years for his dream, so now he’s returning the favor. Soon after moving they go hiking in the woods, get lost and fall into a cavern. The decided to spend the night in there so they can see in the morning to climb out. They wake up and their flesh is stuck together, assuming it is some mold or something they move on. Soon they start feeling this weird sensation whenever they are apart. Tensions grow higher when Dave decides to return to music and go on a small tour. Things escalate and the sensation grows until it completely controls the couple, causing them to merge together.
The acting is really good, I mean its Dave Franco and Allison Brie, you kind of expect that. They have good chemistry together and really feel like a couple. They deal with the pressures of the move, new jobs and intimacy issues. It all is just real feeling. You can relate to these two because they seem like real people. The special effects are pretty solid as well, the gore, though minimal, is rather effective. The scene where they have sex and Dave gets stuck inside her, made me squirm. At the end when the two become one being is right up there with some Screaming Mad George levels of body grossness.
I really enjoyed this movie, it is well acted and an interesting idea. It got a little convoluted towards the end with the cult and stuff, but solid nonetheless. I give this an A-. Check it out!
