Skinamarink (2022)

Directed by  Kyle Eddward Ball

Have you ever seen a movie where there are no visible actors?  What about a movie where you stare at the floor, wall, old cartoons, the abyss and hear people whisper about things going on but you don’t get to see the things going on?  If you answered no to those, then you’ve never seen Skinamarink!

This movie got a fair amount of buzz when it was released and it has been on my list for a while, but damn was it a slog.  I’m not even quite sure what the fuck is going on in this movie.  From what I gathered, the kids wake up and see the doors and windows are gone, they can’t find their dad and something happened to their mom that they are not supposed to talk about.  The girl hears a voice calling her, and its her mom sitting on the bed, then you hear the mom ask her to leave and you hear bones breaking.  Its odd stuff like that and at the end the little boy calls 9-11 but they never come and we get more weird shots.

The acting I have no clue.  Its essentially voice acting which is ok, I guess.  The cinematography I can’t really talk about because its random ass spots on the wall and ground.  The cartoons playing on tv were hitting heavy in this because you basically just watch those for a good part.  I understand being artistic but this movie has no substance.

I wouldn’t suggest this, it is a mess.  It is 90 minutes but feels like 9 hours.  You see basically no one, you hear stuff and there is constant crackling of the microphone.  I guess a little happens, but we can’t see it and nothing is explained.  I would consider this some weird art piece more than a film.  I give this a D.
