The Majorettes (1986)
Directed by S. William Hinzman

Sometimes you watch a movie a while back and you start thinking about it, and you rewatch the movie, and this time it seems to play out differently than the last time. That was the case with The Majorettes for me. I remember this movie being much more of an odd crime thriller than a slasher. This time around it was a weird hodge podge of both genres.

The Majorettes is about a group of high school girls that are being killed off one by one and being found dead, in some form of water. Also there is a local gang that is involved in suspicious activities. I think there’s too much going on in this movie. It seems like this is two movies, stapled together to make one bloated and weird slasher. The slasher elements are really nothing note worthy and the crime/gang/exploitation parts are lacking as well. I really wish they would’ve just focused on the slasher element, because it had potential at least.

This is probably the least attractive bra I've ever seen. Like I know those big things need some support but dear lord.

The acting is sketchy in parts. Some characters are decent, while others are as wooden as Pinocchio’s dick. The dialogue is rather brutal at times too. Just boring conversations that you can tell the actors aren’t really listening to each other, and just waiting for one person to stop talking so they can talk. The kills aren’t anything spectacular either. This has just a bunch of throat slitting, seriously that is basically all it has. The gang shoots a girl, which is always boring as crap in a SLASHER movie. I don’t really have a strong opinion either way on this movie. I can say the girls are all rather attractive, so it has that going for it. Many of the actors are suppose to me high schoolers but they’re obviously 35, which is hilarious.

The Majorettes isn’t great, but it isn’t bad either.  It falls in that forgettable area, and it is a bizarre mix of two genres.  If you are a slasher completist or just enjoy 80s exploitation, then check this out.  I give this a C.  Middle of the road movie, middle of the road grade.
