The Mummy's Ghost (1944)
Directed by Reginald Le Borg

Well, I’ve done the other Kharis mummy movies so I might as well keep going right? I also used my parents Peacock account to watch a bunch of old Universal Monster movies so hey whatever, they’re only an hour long haha.

The Mummy’s Ghost is about the mummy Kharis has been given some elixer that gives him eternal life to search for the reincarnation of his lost love Princess Ananka. Sure we’ve seen it before, but have we seen it with John Carradine, I THINK NOT! Yeah nothing really new to the table with this bad boy. I mean all the Kharis movies thus far have been so similar that I can’t keep them apart.

The acting is decent enough. Lon Chaney Jr plays Kharis again and he does a good job, I can’t imagine having to sit for the damn makeup to be applied constantly for this costume, that is a level of patience I would not have. John Carradine also does a good job as Yousef. Ramsay Ames plays Amina, the reincarnated Ananka and my god, she is stunning! This is the 1940s, typically I watch these old movies and I’m never really attracted to the women but Ramsay is beautiful. So yeah, kinda get why Kharis has to have her lol.

The movie is only an hour so it moves at a brisk pace, which is good and bad. It is good because you don’t have to devote too much time to this and I mean how many times can you make the same movie, and have it be longer than an hour? Yeah Friday the 13th did it, as did Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street….ok I get it. Bad because, the whole thing is kind of rushed. The beginning somehow starts slow, which is impressive, then it goes into light speed and you wonder what the hell is going on. I mean its not like this is a deep movie, but it took me a bit to figure out.

If you want to see a mummy, shuffle along and kill people, then hey there’s like 5 of these right?  Some came out in the same damn year for crying out loud.  I will say this movie was entertaining, but nothing memorable or really even anything that stands out from the previous Kharis movies.  I think this movie is a solid C.
