Sometimes you stumble across hot garbage and you have to watch it right? You know it is likely going to be so stupid that you have to see it! Nudist Colony of the Dead was a definite case of this. Someone shared a VHS they had on a facebook group I’m in and I knew I had to see it. So…is it shit?
Nudist Colony of the Dead is a horror/comedy/musical…yes MUSICAL about a nudist colony that is being forced to give up its land to some religious wackos. Instead of giving up their land they decide to drink poision and die. Years later a group of religious teens take a trip to the land for bible camp or something idk, anyway the nudists rise up from the grave and start killing people. It is as amazing as it sounds.
I have to say firstly, that I really liked this movie haha. It is absurd, yes, but it is that good level of crap that I love. It knows what it is and it embraces it. I think something similar to Kung Fury, it wasn’t trying to be serious and it wasn’t really odd like Troma but more Troma than not. Obviously I’m a poet with words and I can explain my feelings on this very well. The kills aren’t anything too crazy but we get some comedic moments such as a decapitated head talking and taking a drink of coke, that cracked me up. This movie is more of a comedy and relies on that.
If you enjoy comedic horror then you’ll enjoy this. If you enjoy movies that are so bad that they’re amazing, then this is up your alley. You don’t get over the top gore like in many zombie flicks but man this is a fun ride. The movie is only like an hour and twenty minutes long so not that big of a commitment. I give this a B.
