Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015)

Parody movies have been around for a long time, and when done correctly they can be quite funny. The original Scary Movie is one that comes to mind when thinking of a great parody. Dude Bro Party Massacre III is a parody of 80s college slasher movies such as Splatter University, House on Sorority Row, and Final Exam. Since I love the subgenre, watching this was inevitable.
The plot focuses around Brent, a college student joining a fraternity that his dead brother was part of, trying to get revenge for his murder. They show a montage of the first two Dude Bro Party Massacre movies, which only exist in these clips. What we see is a bunch of money shots, gory deaths by the killer Mother Face. He joins the frat and they go on a camping trip. While on the trip the bros start getting picked off one by one by the returning killer Mother Face. Brent has to fight and get revenge for his brothers murder, all while keeping his bros safe.
The acting is hilariously bad, but it is suppose to be. The main character Brent has a forced deep raspy voice, which made me laugh. You get your wide array of typical frat tools. If you have been to college you know exactly what I’m talking about. Guys that are in love with themselves, walk around shirtless a lot, and are in college solely to get wasted and get laid. Patton Oswalt plays the chief of police and I love any time Oswalt is in a movie or tv show. King of Queens was one of my favorite shows and I grew to enjoy Patton.
The special effects are great. There are tons of over the top death scenes with lots of blood and gore. My favorite part of the movie is the beginning when they have a montage of the first two films. I was laughing so hard I nearly cried at times. Decapitations, disembowelments, and bodies being ripped in half, Dude Bro Party Massacre III touches all the slasher basics. Mother Face is pretty cool looking, kind of a burnt up old lady. Basically she looks like Freddy Krueger’s wife.
Dude Bro Party Massacre III is a nod to fans of the genre and it is really entertaining. It was genuinely funny in parts, yet some parts were quite annoying. There is a seen where Turbeaux keeps saying he has a hairy little puppy dick or something like that and I found that really annoying and stupid. With parodies it is nearly impossible to hit on all of the jokes, there always seems to be a stinker or two thrown in and that scene is definitely one of them. The idea of a twin brother coming back to avenge his twin’s death is pretty funny. You know it is the same guy, but that’s part of the charm. I was entertained by this movie and if you’re a slasher movie fan then check it out. I give Dude Bro Party Massacre III a B.
