Oct. 5th: Eight 1990s Horror Movies Worth Your Time

Eight 90s horror movies that are worth your time (in no real order)

Disclaimer: Obvious entries of Candyman, Scream, Silence of the Lambs, etc are not included.

Halloween H20 (1998)

Directed by Steve Miner (Miner?! I hardly know her! Oh Michael Scott)

Yes, it’s a product of its time, yes is another in a long line of sequels, yes it has the terrible CGI Michael Myers mask in it, but hell if it isn’t entertaining and a solid installment.

-Wishmaster (1997)

Directed by Robert Kurtzman

While the sequels leave something to the imagination, the original I found fun.  It’s a nice, fresh idea of an evil genie granting wishes with deadly sarcasm.  Enjoy!

-Child’s Play 2 (1990)

Directed by John Lafia

I really enjoy this one, actually its one of my favorite slasher movie sequels regardless of series.  Chucky is back and terrorizing Andy again.  Don’t overlook this one, but feel free to overlook part 3, that’s fine.

-The Faculty (1998)

Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Very much an homage to 60s scifi horror films, with a modern (90s) feel.  Great cast, good acting, fun movie.

-Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil (1992)

Directed by Clay Borris

Why do I like this movie?  Ok maybe not one of the best, but it is entertaining and campy, there are some really dumb moments and the story is kind of laughably absurd but it is fun to laugh at. (also somehow the vhs copy I used to own was a screener, odd).

-Popcorn (1991)

Directed by Mark Herrier and Alan Ormsby

This is the hidden gem of slasher movies.  The acting is above average for the genre, the killer is great and the setting is awesome.  If you take any movie from this list, have it be Popcorn.

-Uncle Sam (1996)

Directed by William Lustig

As a film, its crappy at best but it is so over the top and cheesy that it’s a fun watch. Why? Cuz Merica!

-Strangeland (1998)

Directed by John Pieplow

Most of you aren’t aware but I love 80s glam metal bands and hell a slasher movie starring Dee Snider from Twisted Sister?!  SIGN ME UP!
