Good Boy (2025)
Directed by Ben Leonberg
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! Hey! Look! Another 2025 movie! As soon as I saw the trailer for Good Boy, I knew I had to watch it. It seemed like a really interesting idea, essentially a horror movie from the dog’s perspective.
The plot for Good Boy is about a guy named Todd, and his dog Indy living in a family home out in the middle of nowhere. Todd suffers from a respiratory illness and his sister is protective of him. Everyone believes his home is haunted after what happened to his grandpa and his death. Soon things start getting strange, and obviously the dog senses things are off before Todd does. The dog tries everything he can to make sure the owner knows something isn’t right, but he chalks it up to his dog just being a dog. Things take a turn and Indy fights to keep Todd alive. I wont give anything away, since it is a newer movie.
Just give Indy the Oscar!
The acting? It is funny to say this but Indy was awesome! There are only like 4 humans in this. Todd, Vera the sister, Richard the neighbor, and tapes of Grandpa. Indy is the main character and he carries the movie really well. With lack of other words, Indy is a good boy! What a cute dog too, the reddish brown fur with the white marks. I’ve never seen a movie dog have so much expression. The human characters are all played well, but they’re really just supporting actors for Indy.
The camerawork in this movie is really cool. Most shots are down to Indy’s level and the lighting is genuinely creepy. Most of the shots are dark and dreary looking. The effects are minimal for the most part, and it really just adds to the atmosphere. Atmosphere is what this movie has in spades. Even only being 1 hour and 12 minutes long, this film packs a lot of tension and suspense.
I sat here watching this movie and wondering how my own dog would do in this situation. I think one of two things would happen. She would either run away, or be completely oblivious to any of it, because she’s too busy looking for food. Indy is a rockstar, he needs to do more movies! I give this a A-, it was fun, interesting and a quick watch.
