Sorority House Massacre (1986)
Directed by Carol Frank

I love slasher movies! Shock, I know. There were a whole assload of them back in the 80s, some great some horrible, some inbetween. When you have seen as many as I have, you really begin to appreciate the ones that tried. Sorority House Massacre is one that really did the best it could and it deserves some recognition.
Sorority House Massacre is about a college student and her sorority sisters being stalked by a psychopathic killer who shares a telepathic link with her. An escaped mental patient come back to his home town and stalking a group of young adults? Sounds familiar right? Yes it is the same story as Offerings! Oh and some low budget movie named Halloween. I’ve said many times that every small town in America had a psych ward with terrible security in the 80s. EVERY DAMN ONE! Prove me wrong. The story may be cliche but the movie is entertaining. Running at a whopping 74 minutes you can cruise through this bad boy in no time.
The special effects are competent. Nothing outlandish, nothing horrible, just effective enough to be passable. The kills are typical stabbings but you actually get to seem them unlike castrated bore fests like Scream 1981. The acting is quite decent. Angela O’Neill plays the main character Beth and she does an excellent job, I really appreciate the enthusiasm and true ability she has. The killer is your run of the mill dude with a knife. He has scenes of sprinting and aggressiveness that make him intimidating. The other girls are fun characters, you got your fun party girls and valley girls. The guys are basically throw aways, but this movie is about the girls cmon.
I have seen this a few times, hell I owned it on betamax and sold it like a schmuck. I enjoy this movie everytime I watch it. It has some weird cross with The Slumber Party Massacre series, that is too confusing to explain. I give this a solid B, it takes a cliche story and adds some twists and solid acting to make it entertaining, definitely worth a watch.
